Miami Recruiting Class Ranked No. 4 in Nation

OXFORD, Ohio— Miami Hockey head coach Anthony Noreen will welcome the No. 4 recruiting class in the country to his program ahead of the 2025-26 season. The incoming group of RedHawk freshmen is ranked fourth overall by Neutral Zone, just behind the classes of Bowling Green, Boston University and Maine. The RedHawks' class features an average ranking of 3.75 stars per recruit.
Miami has the highest-ranked recruiting class of any NCHC team and is one of just three NCHC institutions in the top 20 (Western Michigan – sixth, North Dakota – 13th). Miami's recruiting classes were ranked No. 25, No. 37, No. 22, No. 63 and (most recently) No. 40 over the past five years.
The RedHawks also boast a top-10 class of transfer additions in Neutral Zone's Transfer Portal Rankings, currently checking in at No. 9 on that list.
"One thing that stands out for me is that they have a nice combination of quality guys in the transfer portal and freshmen coming in. They did well in both areas," said Brian Murphy, head of U.S. scouting for Neutral Zone.
"I like the versatility of the class," Murphy continued, highlighting standouts like previously announced signees Artemi Nizameyev (a four-star prospect) and David Deputy (who won the Clark Cup this week with Muskegon in the USHL). "Miami attracted players that can do a number of different things once they're on the ice: guys that can play up and down the lineup, bigger guys with some physicality and smaller guys with some wiggle that can make you miss.
"They've got some guys that are going to win puck battles, play hard and lead by example. And I think you have players that are agitators, in a good way…they're going to be much more difficult to play against next year with these players coming in."
"This is a group that we feel will set the foundation for Miami Hockey moving forward," Noreen said. "I am appreciative of the hard work done by David Nies, Troy Thibodeau and the rest of our staff in identifying and recruiting both incoming freshmen and transfers that are who and what we want to be.
"The group is diverse in its experience and skill set, but the commonality is their character and compete level."
Miami will announce its complete 2025-26 roster later this summer. Noreen's second season leading the RedHawks begins Friday, Oct. 3 vs. Ferris State at Steve "Coach" Cady Arena.
