ATHENS, Ohio – On Friday afternoon the Miami University softball team dropped both games of a doubleheader against Ohio University. The RedHawks move to 26-21 (15-6 Mid-American Conference) and Ohio moves to 30-4 (13-4 MAC).
HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME 1):
- The first two and a half innings were quiet across both teams.
- A two RBI home run from Ohio in the bottom of the third put the Bobcats ahead 2-0.
- The remainder of the game went without a score change; Ohio took the victory 2-0.
NOTES:
- Madilyn Reeves pitched the complete game on the mound. She gave up just two free passes and four hits. She struck out nine batters.
- Mckenna Campbell went 2-for-3 at the plate. Both of her hits were doubles.
- Chloe Parks and Shelby Kunkel each went 1-for-3.
- Parks secured her 200th career hit.
- The RedHawks out-hit the Bobcats 5-4.
HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME 2):
- The game remained scoreless through the first four innings.
- In the top of the fifth, Kaylee Oh hit an infield single that allowed Erin Pinter to cross home and snag a 1-0 lead for the RedHawks.
- The Bobcats hit a two RBI homer in the bottom of the fifth to take the lead 2-1.
- A RBI double in the bottom of the sixth extended the Bobcat lead to 3-1, which they held through the remainder of the game to take the win.
NOTES:
- Léa Chevrier pitched the complete game in the circle, allowing just six hits. She struck out three.
- Ella Carter went 2-for-3 at the plate.
- Oh, Campbell, and Pinter each went 1-for-3.
- The RedHawks notched their 250th RBI of the season.
- The Red and White extended their errorless game streak to six.
