Baker Named to Brooks Wallace Award Watch List

OVERLAND PARK, Kan.  – Miami's Dillon Baker has been named to the Brooks Wallace Award Watch List, which was released Friday by the College Baseball Foundation.

The award honors the nation's top shortstop and will be presented by the College Baseball Foundation later this year. It is named for former Texas Tech shortstop Brooks Wallace, who played for the Red Raiders from 1977 to 1980. Wallace died of leukemia at the age of 27.

Baker, a redshirt senior from Tampa, Fla., has started in each game he's played this season, totaling 43 hits, 11 doubles, two triples, eight home runs and 31 RBI. Baker is currently batting a career-best .314 (Division I), has an on base percentage of .402 and also has an slugging percentage of .594. Defensively, he has a .965 fielding percentage.

Baker is one of four shortstops to make the watch list from the Mid-American Conference.
