
RedHawks Win Series vs. NKU in 6-5 Game Three

OXFORD, Ohio – The Miami University baseball team won its series against Northern Kentucky Sunday with a 6-5 come-from-behind victory on a walkoff error. David Novak had three hits during the contest. Miami moves to 5-6 with the victory, while NKU falls to 5-5.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The visitors took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first after two singles and a double into the left-field corner.
- Dominic Krupinski doubled to center field in the top of the second and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Dillon Baker doubled to right field to make it 2-1.
- The Norse went ahead 3-1 in the top of the third with a solo home run to right field.
- Two HBPs and a walk loaded the bases for Miami in the bottom of the fourth. A wild pitch cut Miami's deficit in half, 3-2. Another walk loaded the bases again and a balk tied the game at 3-3.
- Northern Kentucky scored one run in the top of the fifth on a groundout. Later in the inning, Miami threw out an NKU runner attempting to steal home to save an additional run from scoring.
- In the top of the seventh, NKU extended its lead to 5-3, scoring one run on three hits.
- Ryan Novak tripled in the bottom of the seventh, and Blake Buzzeo hit an infield single to score Novak and make it 5-4.
- David Novak singled in the bottom of the ninth. A hit batter and a walk loaded the bases. Justin Gorski reached on an error that scored two runners and won the game for Miami 6-5.
MIAMI GAME NOTES:
- David Novak went 3-for-5.
- Dillon Baker went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run.
- Anthony Zarlingo went 2-for-4.
- Buzzeo went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
- Carson Byers pitched 5.0 innings in relief, giving up just five hits and one run.
