ON TAP: The Miami University women's basketball team competes in the MAC Tournament for the first time since the 2018-19 season, facing fourth-seeded Kent State on Wednesday. Opening tip is slated for around 1:30 p.m.

GOING STREAKING: Enjulina Gonzalez has scored in double figures 24-straight games, dating back to Dec. 1. She has surpassed 20 points nine different times this season, including a season-high 29 points in a win at FIU. The sophomore transfer from Mercer has been named MAC Player of the Week three times and currently ranks fourth in the MAC in scoring (16.9). Miami is 8-1 this season when she scores 20-plus points.

DOUBLE TROUBLE: Amber Tretter has recorded 18 double-doubles in her career, including eight this year. On the season, she nearly averages a double-double in points (11.0) and rebounds (9.0). She has recorded double-doubles in four of her last six games including a 14 point, 20 rebound performance versus Buffalo. She has 483 career rebounds through her first two seasons with the RedHawks.

ABOUT KENT STATE: The Golden Flashes enter the MAC Tournament as the No. 4 seed after securing a 20-11 overall and 12-6 conference record. Kent State is second in the MAC in scoring (73.9 ppg.), led by Jenna Batsch (17.1 ppg.) and Mya Babbitt (11.6 ppg.).

SERIES HISTORY: This will be the 102nd meeting between the two schools, with Kent State holding a 52-49 series advantage. The Flashes are 8-3 over the past 11 contests.

ROUND THREE WITH THE FLASHES: For the third time this year, Miami and Kent State will square off. KSU won the first meeting in Oxford back on Jan. 25 (77-63), but the RedHawks picked up a road win over the Flashes on Feb. 15 (64-62). Maya Chandler (18.0 ppg.) and Enjulina Gonzalez (17.5 ppg.) have led the way in two games this season versus the Flashes. Amber Tretter has also averaged nearly a double-double (8.5 ppg., 12.0 rpg.).

LAST GAME: NOTES FROM WIN OVER NIU:
• Miami closed the regular season with an 89-79 win over Northern Illinois on Saturday. It was Miami's eighth win in the past 10 contests.
• Maya Chandler scored a career-high 26 points, while Enjulina Gonzalez added 22 and Amber Tretter poured in 19 as the RedHawks scored a season-high in points.
• Miami scored 29 points off of turnovers, forcing NIU to turn the ball over 26 times.

WINNING WITH DEFENSE: Miami ranks atop the conference, allowing 58.3 points per game (54th nationally), which is the second-bets defensive effort in program history (The 1977-78 Miami team allowed 56.9 ppg.) The RedHawks have held seven opponents to under 50 points this season.
• Miami ranks 16th nationally, forcing 21.3 turnovers per contest. The RedHawks are 13-4 on the year when they force their opponent into 20-plus turnovers.
• Miami leads the conference with 11.5 steals/game (15th nationally) and features five players ranked in the top-20 in the MAC: Tamar Singer (2.2, fifth), Enjulina Gonzalez (1.8, 9th), Cori Lard (1.7, 12th), Amber Tretter (1.4, 17th) and Maya Chandler (1.3, 19th).

POINTING TO THE PAINT: Miami is 11-2 this season when they record at least 28 points in the paint and 2-3 this season when posting under 20 points in the paint.

MIAMI IN MAC TOURNAMENT: The No. 5 seed RedHawks enter the MAC Tournament for the first time since the 2018-19 season. There are no current players/coaches that have competed in the MAC Tournament. Miami is 27-32 all-time in the conference Tournament and have not captured the tournament crown since the 2007-08 season. Below is how Miami has fared against the other seven teams in conference tournament history.
#1 Ball State: 3-2
#2 Buffalo: 0-1
#3 Toledo: 2-3
#4 Kent State: 3-5
#6 Bowling Green: 0-5
#7 Central Michigan: 1-5
#8 Western Michigan: 5-5

THAT 70'S SHOW: It's not all about defense when it comes to Miami. The RedHawks are a perfect 11-0 this year when they score 70-plus points in a contest. They are coming off an 89-point outburst versus Northern Illinois, their highest output of the season.

BENCH PRESS: Head Coach Glenn Box has leaned heavily on his bench over the past four games. The 74 bench points over the past four games is the highest four-game stretch from the bench during MAC play this year. Miami got 22 points from its bench versus the Eagles (12 - Richason, 7- Jurjo, 3 - Edwards), 22 against the Bobcats (13 - Edwards, 9 - Richason), 13 in the loss to CMU (Richason - 7, Lard - 6) and 17 against NIU (Lard - 8, Richason - 5, Jurjo - 2, Bratton - 2).

WHAT A DIFFERENCE A YEAR MAKES: Last season Miami averaged 53.9 ppg. and allowed 63.8 ppg. for a scoring margin of -9.9/game. This season the script has flipped as the RedHawks average 66.7 ppg. and allow 58.3 ppg. for a scoring margin of +8.3. Between the two seasons, Miami has a 18.2 improvement in scoring margin.

SMASHING RECORDS: In head coach Glenn Box's first season, the RedHawks posted a  9-20 overall and 6-12 record in MAC play. This season, Miami has won 10 more games than they did the previous year, which matches +10 win improvement the 2017-18 RedHawks accomplished (11 wins in 2016-17 // 21 wins in 2017-18). A win over Kent State would give Miami the greatest single-season turnaround in program history.

20-PLUS LEAGUE: A win over Kent State would also give Miami its first 20-win season since the 2017-18 campaign and in fact, would be just the sixth time this century the RedHawks have captured a 20-win season.

Season - Win Total
2007-08 - 23
2018-19 - 23
2003-04 - 22
2017-18 - 21
2011-12 - 21
2024-25 - 19

COMBINING FORCES: The 2024-25 basketball season has been one of the best in Miami Athletics history. The Miami men (23-8), along with the women (19-10) have combined to win 42 games this season, tied for the best single-season win total in Miami history. One more win between either program would surpass the 42 wins (23 men, 19 women) from 1994-95 basketball season. If you want to add football to this total, the RedHawks have won 51 contests (Miami football won 9 games) in 2024-25. The 2003-04 season saw Miami win 53 games between the three sports (18 men, 22 women, 13 football).

BOMBS AWAY: Miami ranks sixth in the MAC in three pointers made per game (7.3) and are fourth in percentage made from behind the arc (32.6%). Maya Chandler (48) and Enjulina Gonzalez (42) have combined for 90 triples, while six different RedHawks have made at least 17 three pointers this season.

TOE THE LINE: Miami averages just 13.1 free throw attempts per game, 318th in the nation. Miami is 9-2 on the year when they get to the free throw line at least 15 times. Miami has shot 10 or fewer free throws nine times this year.

WAITING UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE: On senior day, Maya Chandler scored a career-high 26 points (the 146th game of her career) versus NIU. In her career, she has scored 1,346 career points between three different programs. She has scored 310 points with the RedHawks, had 149 points in one season at SMU and in three years at Loyola-Chicago she scored 877 points and was named the Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Year in 2020-21. She has played in 146 games throughout her career, making 126 starts.

SINGING HER PRAISES: Freshman Tamar Singer is playing 28.7 minutes a contest, third best on the team. She ranks seventh in the MAC in assists (4.2), 11th in assist/turnover ratio (1.1) and third in fifth (2.2). She has scored in double-figures six times this year and has posted at least five assists 14 different times.
