ATHENS, Ohio – The Miami University women's basketball team outscored the Ohio Bobcats 37-26 in the second half en route to a 62-53 victory on Saturday afternoon.
Maya Chandler led the way with 14 points and
Lakresha Edwards had a season-high 13 points for Miami (18-9, 10-6 MAC). Bailey Tabeling had a game-high 17 points for the Bobcats (6-21, 4-12 MAC).
How it Happened:
- Ilse de Vries opened the scoring with a triple and a put-back bucket from Amber Tretter game Miami an early 5-2 lead. Ohio responded with a 7-2 run and led 9-5 with 2:07 remaining in the first. Chandler and Edwards knocked in three-straight triples for the RedHawks to help tie the contest at 14 apiece after 10 minutes of action.
- Chandler made her third three pointer of the game to give Miami a 17-14 advantage early in the second quarter and after Ohio trailed by one, 19-18, Enjulina Gonzalez drilled a triple from the corner for a 22-18 lead. Miami could muster just one bucket in the final 6:30 and trailed the Bobcats 27-25 at the half.
- Miami scored the first six points of the second half with help of four points from senior Katey Richason. Three straight triples from Edwards (second and third of the game) and Chandler (fourth of the game) spotted the Red and White a 42-38 advantage with three minutes left in the third. Ohio scored to make it 42-40, but Miami's defense held the Bobcats off the board for the final 2:45 to claim a 46-40 lead heading to the final stanza.
- Tamar Singer's three-point play to begin the quarter gave Miami its largest lead of the game, 49-40. Ohio answered with a 11-4 run over the next five minutes to make it two-point game, before a Richason three-point play spotted Miami a 56-51 lead with 3:50 to go. A bucket from Gonzalez and four free throws from Tretter, combined with Miami's defense that surrendered just two points in the final four minutes helped the RedHawks claim the victory.

- Lakresha Edwards had a season-high 13 points on 5-of-9 shooting.
- Miami concludes the regular season with five-straight road wins.
- Enjulina Gonzalez scored in double figures for the 22nd straight game, finishing with 11 points versus Ohio. She added a career-high eight rebounds.
- The 18 wins this season are the most since the 2018-19 RedHawks won 23 games.
- Tamar Singer matched her career-best with seven assists.
- Katey Richason nearly had a double-double with nine points and eight boards.
