Miami Falls to Wright State in 11-10 Battle

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After Wright State scored four runs in the first, Miami responded with four of their own. Evan Appelwick pounded a three-run home run over the centerfield wall. Christopher Roa knotted the game at four apiece with a groundout RBI.
- Wright State regained the lead with a solo homer in the top of the second. Miami responded with three runs in the bottom of the inning. Dillon Baker scored on a passed ball. David Novak singled to bring around Anthony Zarlingo and a hit-by-pitch brought home Appelwick.
- Wright State tied the game a 7-7 in the top of the third with a two-run homer.
- The Raiders claimed a 9-7 lead after scoring two runs in the fifth. Carson Byers entered the contest with the bases loaded and no outs and surrendered just a single run on a sacrifice fly.
- Novak's opposite field three-run homer brought home Zarlingo and Baker for a 10-9 Miami lead in the bottom of the fifth.
- WSU reclaimed the lead, 11-10, with a two-out, two-run homer in the top of the seventh.
- Miami threatened in the bottom of the eighth with runners on first and second, but failed to score.
- The RedHawks kept the Raiders scoreless in the top of the ninth.
- Miami managed to put two runners on base in the bottom of the ninth, but was unable to complete the comeback.
MIAMI GAME NOTES:
- Baker went 2-for-4 with three runs.
- Zarlingo went 2-for-4 with three runs.
- Appelwick went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs.
- Novak went 3-for-6 with four RBIs and a run.
