OXFORD, Ohio– The Miami University hockey team fell to No. 6/7 Denver by a score of 5-1 Friday at Steve "Coach" Cady Arena.
Colby Ambrosio scored the only goal for the RedHawks (3-24-2, 0-19-0 NCHC). Jack Devine and Aidan Thompson had two points apiece for the Pioneers (22-8-1, 11-7-1 NCHC).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- 9:38 1st (Denver 1-0) | Midway through the opening period, the Pioneers jumped out to a 1-0 lead. Jake Fisher intercepted a RedHawk clearing attempt in front of the net and grabbed an unassisted goal.
- 19:38 1st (Denver 2-0) | With seconds remaining in the first period, Denver extended its lead to 2-0. A passing sequence between Samu Salminen and Boston Buckberger resulted in a backdoor feed to James Reeder, who finished the play at the far post for a power-play goal.
- 10:42 2nd (Denver 3-0) | Garrett Brown made it a 3-0 Denver lead halfway through the second period. Brown collected the puck in Denver's defensive zone, skated it all the way down the ice on a 2-on-1 break, and kept it himself for his first career goal.
- 13:45 2nd (Denver 4-0) | On the power play, DU pushed the margin to 4-0 with a goal from Devine. Thompson and Eric Pohlkamp exchanged diagonal passes across the near faceoff circle before setting up Devine for a one-timer finish.
- 1:10 3rd (Miami 4-1) | Ambrosio cut the deficit to 4-1 on the power play just over a minute into the third period. From the blue line, Michael Quinn passed the puck to Johnny Waldron, who sent a shot in. Ambrosio collected the rebound and floated a shot up and over Pioneer goaltender Matt Davis to get the Red and White on the board.
- 1:28 3rd (Denver 5-1) | The Pioneers answered back 18 seconds later for the evening's final goal. Thompson laid a pass off to a trailing Carter King for a quick shot. Devine also earned an assist on the play.

- Ethan Dahlmeir made 28 saves in the Miami net.
- Ambrosio's goal was his team-high 18th point of the season.
- Waldron picked up his team-leading 13th assist of the season.
- Quinn collected his 10th point of the year.
