RedHawks Fend Off Bowling Green, 93-83

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Miami University men's basketball team (14-0, 2-0 MAC) held off Bowling Green (10-4, 1-1 MAC) for a 93-83 win at the Stroh Center on Tuesday night. Brant Byers and Peter Suder each led the RedHawks with 17 points, while Luke Skaljac (15) and Antwone Woolfolk (14) added double figures in scoring. Sam Towns led the Falcons with 24 points.

How it Happened:
- The Falcons opened strong at the start of play, grabbing an early 7-2 advantage. A pair of layups and Suder's second jumper of the game brought Miami right back in the fight at 9-8. Justin Kirby then entered the game for the first time this season, sinking a free throw and knocking down a triple from the right wing to help the RedHawks claim a 14-11 lead. The Red and White went on to outscore the Falcons 14-0 to stretch its lead to 25-11 with 7:34 before the intermission.
- Free throws from Eian Elmer and Trey Perry, as well as a dunk and triple from Woolfolk, increased Miami's lead to 34-15. Byers and Woolfolk went on to add two more shots from beyond the arc to stretch the lead to 44-18. Byers and Perry continued the hot shooting from behind the three-point line, and Tyler Robbins scored in the paint to send Miami into halftime ahead 54-28.
- Bowling Green scored the opening six points of the second half to trail 54-34. Suder found Skaljac for three at the top of the key to end the Falcons' scoring run at 57-34. Bowling Green cut its deficit to under 20 points at 57-39 with just over 15 minutes to go. Skaljac once again answered offensively, knocking down a jumper and putting in a layup at 61-39.
- Two layups from the RedHawks and back-to-back triples from Almar Atlason kept Miami in control at 71-53. With 3:35 to go, Bowling Green made it a nine-point ball game at 78-69. After Skaljac brought down an offensive rebound, Suder sank a pull-up three from the left wing to silence the crowd at 81-69. The Red and White finished the game out by shooting 6-of-6 from the free-throw line to help secure a 93-83 victory on the road.
Game Notes:
- The Red and White shot 30-of-55 (54.5%) from the field (eighth consecutive game that Miami has shot over 50% from the field).
- The RedHawks made 22-of-24 (91.7%) shots from the free-throw line (second time this season shooting over 90% from the charity stripe).
- The RedHawks recorded 21 points off turnovers.
- Suder led all players with eight rebounds.
- Suder grabbed the most steals for the RedHawks (three).
- Skaljac and Suder totaled the most assists (five).
