Byers Named MAC Player of the Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference announced its weekly basketball awards on Monday. Miami redshirt sophomore wing Brant Byers was named MAC Player of the Week. It is his first MAC honor of the season.

Byers led the Red and White to a 2-0 week in a pair of away contests, as the RedHawks are still undefeated at 12-0. Miami defeated Wright State 83-76 Tuesday night and Ball State 86-77 Saturday afternoon. Byers totaled 43 points (21.5/game), shot 12-of-18 from the field (66.7%) and knocked down 7-of-9 shots (77.8%) from the three-point line over the two games. He also totaled nine rebounds (4.5/game), three steals (1.5/game) and one assist (0.5/game) on the week. Byers started the week strong against the Raiders, setting a career-high 27 points after shooting 5-of-6 from the three-point line. He also added five rebounds and three steals on the night. Byers went on to record 16 points, four rebounds and one assist against the Cardinals.
