Four RedHawks Recognized as Academic All-District

College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced its women's soccer Academic All-District honorees today, including four Miami University student-athletes: Morhéa Hoefen, Maris Jennings, Kayla Perfect and Sophia Penegor. Qualifying student-athletes must have competed in 90% of their team's games or started two-thirds of the contests on the schedule while maintaining a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5.

Hoefen produced three goals and three assists for Miami Soccer this season, starting all 19 matches for the RedHawks and playing over 1,400 minutes. She had the game-winning goal in the conference opener at Northern Illinois. A junior from Lakewood, Colo., Hoefen is majoring in Kinesiology/Premedical & Pre-Health Studies.

Jennings appeared in 17 matches (starting 14) and put up one goal and one assist on the season, netting the game-winner in a September victory at Akron. She played more than 1,200 minutes this season for the RedHawks. A sophomore from Murrells Inlet, S.C., Jennings is studying Kinesiology at Miami.

Perfect, a junior from Medina, Ohio, collected four goals and six assists for the Red and White this fall and earned Second-Team All-MAC recognition. She started all 19 matches, played over 1,300 minutes and scored two game-winning goals. Perfect is majoring in Psychology/Premedical & Pre-Health Studies.

Penegor played every minute for the RedHawks this season, and the redshirt sophomore defender from Dublin, Ohio also contributed two goals. She scored the game-winner against Tennessee Tech in August. Penegor, a Second-Team All-MAC selection, is majoring in Psychology/Premedical & Pre-Health Studies. She is also up for consideration for Academic All-America honors, with voting underway now and the results to be announced Dec. 17.
