
RedHawks Drop Final Home Match in Five Sets to EMU

OXFORD, Ohio— The Miami University volleyball team (16-14, 10-8 MAC) fell to Eastern Michigan (13-18, 5-13 MAC) in a five-set match (19-25, 25-17, 20-25, 26-24, 10-15) on Saturday at Millett.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The RedHawks will now turn their attention to the 2025 MAC Volleyball Championship, which is set to take place from Nov. 21 to 23 in Bowling Green, Ohio. No. 5 Miami opens the tournament against No. 4 Toledo on Friday, Nov. 21 at 4 p.m.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Ellie Hanson got the RedHawks going at the beginning of the first set, as she used a block, a kill and a service ace to help the RedHawks take a 7-4 lead. Eastern Michigan evened the score at 10-10 and went on to stretch its lead to 19-13. A pair of kills from Gentry Warrick kept the RedHawks within five at 20-15, but Miami came no closer, as the Eagles claimed the first set 25-19.
- Miami started the second set 5-0, and Molly Creech helped fuel the offense to a 12-4 lead after putting down three kills. The Eagles battled to shrink the RedHawk lead to 18-15 when two kills and a Hayden Hicks service ace gave Miami a more comfortable lead at 21-15. The scoring gap proved too large for the Eagles, as Miami took the second set thanks to a block from Coyne and Warrick to end the set at 25-17.
- Eastern Michigan came out strong in the third set by rolling to a 13-4 advantage. Miami outscored the Eagles 7-1 to minimize the Eastern Michigan lead to 14-11. Back-to-back service aces from Lindy Radaszewski made it a two-point set at 18-16 and forced the visitors to call a timeout. Despite the strong effort, the Eagles grabbed the third set 25-20.
- Grace Kreutz recorded three kills in the opening of the fourth set to keep Miami in the fight at 5-3. A collection of kills and blocks from the RedHawks brought Miami right back in it by making it a one-point set at 11-10. With the Eagles winning 13-11, two kills and a Kreutz service ace gave Miami its first lead of the set at 14-13. Holding on to an 18-16 lead, the Red and White managed to put down seven kills and a service ace to edge past Eastern Michigan 26-24 in the fourth set.
- The Eagles surged ahead 4-0 at the start of the fifth set when three consecutive kills from Chelsea Williams ended the Eagles' offensive attack at 4-3. Creech added four kills of her own to keep the RedHawks within striking distance at 10-8. The RedHawks fought until the end but ultimately fell in the last set, 15-10.
- Warrick led the match with eight total blocks.
- Radaszewski served a career-high four service aces.
