
Creech, Smith Named Miami Athletes of the Week

For their performances last week, Molly Creech and Ryan Smith are Miami's Athletes of the Week, presented by Skyline Chili for the week of Oct. 27.

Female Winner: Molly Creech
Molly Creech recorded 3.22 kills per set while maintaining a .241 hitting percentage in a pair of matches versus Toledo. In total, the outside hitter had 29 kills, four assists and three service aces offensively. She also added 27 digs and four blocks on the weekend. Creech led all players with a career-high 19 kills (.292 hit percentage) in a five-set win over the Rockets Friday night. Creech followed up this performance by leading the RedHawks in digs (14) and service aces (two) on Saturday. A freshman from Cincinnati, Ohio, she is studying Business in the Farmer School of Business.

Male Winner: Ryan Smith
Ryan Smith netted his first goal as a RedHawk Friday night and then exploded for a four-point outing and hat trick on Saturday, capping his monster weekend with the game-winner in overtime. Smith played a role in four of Miami's five goals in the series finale and was credited with a career-high eight shots on goal as Miami won back-to-back games in overtime for the first time in program history. He became the first RedHawk with a four-point game in two years and produced Miami's first hat trick since 2022. A sophomore forward from Pendleton, N.Y., he is studying Sport Management in the College of Education, Health and Society.
