2025-26 Miami Athletics Award Winners Unveiled
Miami Athletics announced the recipients of its annual awards for the 2025-26 academic year: Athlete of the Year - Peter Suder (men's basketball) & Berta Mata (field hockey); Scholar Athlete of the Year - Blake Mesenburg (hockey) & Riley Mazzalupi (field hockey); Dr. Phillip Shriver Graduating Champions Medal of Honor - Carson Byers (baseball) & Madie Patton (softball); Darrell Hedric Award - Ben Riegel (track and field); Leann Grimes Davidge Award - Emily Eterovich (track and field); Dr. David G. Shrider Academic Impact Award - Andrew Sawyer; Darcy Shriver Academic Impact Award - Dr. Melissa Chase. The honorees will be recognized on the field at the home football game vs. Holy Cross on Saturday, Sept. 12.

Two Drafted; One Signed in MLB Draft
Pitcher Austin Berggren was selected in the 12th round of the 2026 MLB Draft by the New York Yankees as the 368th overall pick. Incoming freshman Emanuel Hernandez was selected in the 13th round of the 2026 MLB Draft by the Chicago Cubs as the 397th overall pick. Infielder Dominic Krupinski signed a free agent contract with the Chicago Cubs.
