Nelson Named MAC Golfer of the Week

CLEVELAND-- Miami sophomore Liam Nelson was named the Mid-American Conference Golfer of the Week, the conference announced today. Nelson claimed his first career victory at this week's Flyer Invitational, carding a 206 over three rounds (66-70-70) to top an 82-player field and finish as one of only five players under par. The Chicago native made six birdies in a row in his opening round and finished with 15 for the week (second-highest total in the field), rallying from a three-stroke deficit on the final day to win medalist honors. His performance was the best by any RedHawk golfer so far this season according to Clipp'd Scoreboard rankings.

Miami Golf is back in action at the Thomas Sharkey Individual in Statesboro, Ga. beginning January 31, 2026.
