
Swim and Dive Concludes Friday Afternoon Competition at Cincinnati

CINCINNATI, Ohio — The Miami University swimming and diving team continued their road trip to the University of Cincinnati on Friday afternoon. The RedHawks women fell to the Bearcats scoring 101 to Cincinnati's 199. The men also fell to Cincinnati with a score of 125 to the Bearcat's 175.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The RedHawks kicked off the meet with the women's 400-yard medley where the women's A team finished second. Ella Ziegert, Madison Watschke, Natalie Gilson and Julia Waechter turned in a combined time of 3:47.23.
- The men's 400-yard medley followed where the A team finished second as well. Jensen Nelson, Pablo Silva, Duncan Salmen and Ian Rodrigues-Kmiliauskis had a combined time of 3:17.49.
- Gracie Gregory finished first in the women's 1000-yard freestyle, earning a time of 10:15.25. Casey Stephens finished fourth with a time of 10:36.37.
- The men's 1000-yard freestyle was next, where Elijah Rolfsen was second, turning in a time of 9:23.55.
- After that came the women's 200-yard freestyle, where Sarah Pophal finished fourth, recording a time of 1:55.86.
- Next came the men's 200-yard freestyle. Bryce Menchhofer came in fifth with a time of 1:41.92.
- The women's 100-yard backstroke was next, where Ziegert was first, putting up a time of 56.35. Chrisna Bezuidenhout was third, turning in a time of 56.35.
- Nelson finished second in the men's 100-yard backstroke, turning in a time of 48.77.
- After that was the women's 100-yard breaststroke. Watschke was third, earning a time of 1:03.36. Gilson followed in fourth with a time of 1:04.83.
- The men's 100-yard breaststroke followed, where Silva finished second, turning in a time of 55.77.
- Ashley Sego finished fifth in the women's 200-yard butterfly, putting up a time of 2:09.39.
- Up next was the men's 200-yard butterfly, where Allen Cotton was first, earning a time of 1:49.10.
- After that was the women's 50-yard freestyle where Waechter finished fourth, turning in a time of 23.99.
- The men's 50-yard freestyle was next, where Tegan Barrier finished second, clocking a time of 20.54. Salmen was right behind him with a time of 20.89. Owen Fowler was fourth posting a time of 21.79.
- Waechter finished second in the women's 100-yard freestyle with a time of 52.33.
- Rodrigues-Kmiliauski was third in the men's 100-yard freestyle putting up a time of 45.94.
- Next was the women's 200-yard backstroke where Ziegert finished first, posting a time of 2:02.08. Piper Prince was third with a time of 2:05.81.
- The men's 200-yard backstroke followed, where Nelson was third, turning in a time of 1:51.22.
- After that was the women's 200-yard breaststroke, where Gilson finished fourth with a time of 2:22.84.
- Silva was second in the men's 200-yard breaststroke, posting a time of 2:00.62.
- The women's 500-yard freestyle was next, where Pophal finished second, turning in a time of 5:03.28.
- Elijah Rolfsen finished first in the men's 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:33.94. Hendrik Bechtel was third earning a time of 4:39.44.
- Next was the women's 100-yard butterfly where Gregory was third, posting a time of 57.94.
- Salmen finished first in the men's 100-yard butterfly earning a time of 49.35. Owen Hoban was with a time of 50.61.
- The women's 200-yard IM was next where Watschke finished first, posting a time of 2:05.36.
- Cotton finished first in the men's 200-yard IM with a time of 1:51.50. Hoban was third, turning in a time of 1:53.97.
- The women's 200-yard freestyle relay was next, where the women's A team finished second. Gilson, Waechter, Ziegert and Halliday turned in a combined time of 1:34.76.
- Swimming events concluded with the men's 200-yard freestyle, where the men's A team finished second. Rodrigues-Kmiliauski, Cotton, Salmen and Barrier posted a combined time of 1:22.38.
- For diving events, Mia Meinhardt earned a first-place finish in the women's 1M dive with a score of 267.98.
- The men's 1M dive was next where Noam Kulbak posted a score of 312.75, which was good for first place. Paul Hong was second with a score of 308.63.
- Mia Meinhardt earned a third-place finish in the women's 3M dive with a score of 275.55.
- Hong was second in the men's 3M dive, scoring 364.65.
UP NEXT: The RedHawks swimming and diving team road trip continues as they go to Bowling Green to take on Bowling Green State University Oct. 18, at 1 p.m.
