NOTES FROM TOLEDO LOSS:Â
• Miami dropped a 64-59 contest to Toledo on Wednesday to fall to 4-5 in MAC play, but did remain in a three-way tie for sixth-place in the MAC standings.
•
Enjulina Gonzalez scored 19 points and
Tamar Singer scored a career-best 14 points to go along with six assists, three rebounds and four steals.
• Miami trailed 36-18 with 2:12 in the second quarter, but outscored the Rockets 33-14 over the next 14:54 to claim a 51-50 advantage with 7:18 to play.
• Toledo out-rebounded the RedHawks 39-22 for the contest, but Miami forced 18 turnovers and committed a season-low nine.
WINNING WITH DEFENSE: Miami ranks atop the conference, allowing 57.5 points per game (47th nationally). The RedHawks have held five opponents to under 50 points this season.
• Miami has forced 418 turnovers this season, second-best in the conference. The RedHawks are 8-3 on the year when they force their opponent into 20-plus turnovers.Â
• Miami leads the conference with 11.9 steals/game and features six players ranked in the top-20:
Tamar Singer (2.3, 5th),
Cori Lard (1.5, 11th),
Maya Chandler (1.5, 11th),
Amber Tretter (1.5, 11th),
Enjulina Gonzalez (1.4, 17th) and

POINTING TO THE PAINT: Back on Jan. 18, Miami dropped a contest to Buffalo, where the RedHawks attempted a season-high 34 triples (made 9) and recorded just 12 points in the paint. Since that contest, the RedHawks have recorded 98 points in the paint (32.7/game). The Red and White added 28 points down low versus Akron, 34 against Kent State and had 36 on Wednesday at Toledo.
THAT 70'S SHOW: It's not all about defense when it comes to Miami. The RedHawks are a perfect 7-0 this year when they score 70-plus points in a contest. Much of that scoring has come in the first and third quarters. Miami has outscored their opponents 317-245 in the first quarter and 328-283 to begin the second half.
Â
CHASING RECORDS: Miami has already surpassed last season's win total (9-20 last year) and at 4-5 in MAC play, the RedHawks are closing in on last year's conference win total (6-12 a year ago).
BOMBS AWAY...BUT: Miami ranks fourth in the MAC in three pointers made per game (7.3) and are third in percentage made from behind the arc (33.9%).
Enjulina Gonzalez (44.3%) ranks second in the MAC and 11 different RedHawks shoot at least 30% from long distance. The only downside ... over the past two games, Miami is just 5-of-32 (15.6%) on three-point attempts.
1,000 POINT CLUB: Maya Chandler has scored 1,204 career points between three different programs. She has scored 178 points with the RedHawks, had 149 points in one season at SMU and in three years at Loyola-Chicago she scored 877 points and was named the Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Year in 2020-21. She has played in 136 games throughout her career, making 116 starts.
