Miami Soccer Battles No. 21 South Carolina to Draw

OXFORD, Ohio-- The Miami soccer team drew 0-0 in a match against No. 21 South Carolina at Bobby Kramig Field Sunday afternoon. The RedHawks are now 2-1-2 and South Carolina is now 2-0-2.  


HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Miami's best chance came from Taylor Hamlett when she got on the end of a corner from Maris Jennings in the 21st minute, but Christina Tsaousis made a diving catch. 
  • South Carolina had a chance when Brinley Murphy got on the end of a cross and it fell to Kinley Brown. Brown's shot was saved by Dominique Popa before the offsides flag came up. 
  • Catherine Berry had a shot in the dying seconds of the match after a cross in that Popa once again got her gloves to for a save to keep it 0-0.


NOTES

  • Popa recorded a four-save clean sheet for her first of the season. 
  • Hamlett and Ruby Casey led the RedHawks with two shots each. 
  • Miami had three corners to South Carolina's two. 
  • The RedHawks are unbeaten in their last five home matches (dating to Oct. 15, 2023).

Miami is back in action Sunday Sept. 8 at Southern Indiana. The match begins at 2 p.m. at Strassweg Field.
