Toledo Downs Miami 8-4 in MAC Tournament

AVON, Ohio— The Miami University baseball team dropped 8-4 to Toledo and was eliminated from the Mid-American Conference Tournament on Friday afternoon. The RedHawks' close the season with a final record of 27-27, while the Rockets improve to 27-31.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Rockets got on the scoreboard first, taking a 3-0 lead in the opening inning. Charlie Scholvin singled to left center, bringing home two runners. Owen Jackson proceeded to fly out, scoring Luke Walton.
- Dillon Baker and Zach McDonald each singled to right field in the bottom of the first inning. Baker crossed home plate after Evan Appelwick rifled a single to second base to make it a 3-1 ball game.
- Jackson homered to center field in the top of the third to extend Toledo's lead to 4-1.
- The Rockets added two more runs in the top of the fifth inning to increase their advantage to 6-1.
- An RBI single and a pop-up to second base brought in a pair of runs in the top of the sixth inning for Toledo.
- David Novak singled and then advanced to second base on a balk in the bottom of the ninth inning. Shortly after, Gorski was walked to put runners on first and second. David Novak and Gorski eventually advanced bases on a passed ball. A single to left field by Zaborowski put the score at 8-2. Ryan Novak then smacked a double down the left field line to trail 8-3. Tyler Gordon grounded out to score Zaborowski and come within four runs of Toledo. The RedHawks would get no closer, dropping 8-4 to the Rockets.

- Ryan Novak went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
- Zach MacDonald finishes the year tied for second all-time in a season (20) and second all-time in a career (43) for home runs in Miami history.
- MacDonald closes the year tied at fifth all-time in a season for Miami with 62 RBIs.
- MacDonald is tied for fifth all-time in a season (65) and seventh all-time in a career (151) for runs in Miami history.
