OXFORD, Ohio – Nathan Flannery has joined Miami Athletics as an Assistant Human Performance Coach. Flannery will work directly with football track and cross country.
"First off, I would like to thank Coach Carsey and Coach Kelly for giving me the opportunity to return to Miami," said Flannery. "Returning to a place where I previously grew and learned as an apprentice is incredibly rewarding. I am eager to work with the talented athletes here and contribute to their development and success. I look forward to bringing the unique experiences I have gained throughout my career back to Miami and helping our teams reach new heights. I am ready to get to work. Love and Honor."
Flannery most recently spent the 2022-23 season as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at the University of Dayton. He worked primarily with the Flyers' softball (won their first conference championship), women's soccer, men's and women's golf and rowing programs. He also assisted with UD's football team.
Flannery also served as a human performance coach in an apprenticeship role with the RedHawks from 2021-23. He worked closely with men's and women's cross country/track & field and assisted with Miami football.
"We definitely felt Nate was right for this role," said Assistant AD for Human Performance, James Carsey. "He interned with us a year ago (before taking a position at Dayton), helping with football, track/field and did an excellent job. Athletes and coaches like his detailed coaching styles. He has a real drive to invest in our Athletes and Miami Athletics as a whole. We are glad to have him back here in this position."
Flannery has also spent time at Indiana University East (2021-PR, strength and conditioning coach), Reid Health (2021-22, sports performance coach) and Level Up Athletics (2019-21, founder, strength and conditioning coach).
He completed his bachelor's degree in global management and sports management from Earlham College in 2020 and added a master's degree with athletic coaching from Ball State University in 2023.
Flannery and his wife, Anastasia, have one son, Theodore.
