Chevrier, Cruz Named Miami Athletes of the Week

For their performances last week, Léa Chevrier and Diego Cruz are Miami's Athletes of the Week, presented by Skyline Chili for the week of March 30.

Female Winner:Â Léa Chevrier
Léa Chevrier delivered a standout performance in the circle this week, earning two wins and posting a 1.75 ERA over 12.0 innings pitched. She allowed 14 hits, three earned runs, and just two walks while striking out eight batters. Chevrier held opponents to a .305 batting average and added a shutout inning against Marshall. Against Kent State, she went 2-0 with a save across the series. Pitching in back-to-back games on Saturday, she secured wins in both contests and did not allow an earned run in the first game. A senior pitcher from St-Lazare, Quebec, Canada, she is studying Sport Management in the College of Education, Health and Society.

Male Winner: Diego Cruz
Diego Cruz hit .500 this week en route to three wins, including two wins over Kent State. Through four games, Cruz tallied eight hits, seven runs, and three RBIs while fielding perfectly and stealing two bags. On Tuesday, Cruz totaled three hits in Miami's 14-4 run-rule win against Dayton. On Friday, he had two doubles, and on Sunday he had two hits and scored two runs in Miami's comeback win over Kent State. A freshman infielder from Carolina, PR, he is majoring in Kinesiology in the College of Education, Health and Society.
