MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – On Sunday afternoon the No. 24 Miami University softball team fell to Central Michigan University 9-5. This drops the RedHawks to 36-7 on the season and 18-1 in the Mid-American Conference. Central Michigan moves to 13-26 (10-7 MAC).

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • A double from Karli Spaid in the top of the first scored Allie Cummins to give the RedHawks a 1-0 lead.

  • In the bottom of the second a grand slam from Central pushed their lead to 6-1.
  • The RedHawks cut the lead to 6-2 in the top of the third when Holly Blaska singled to score Cummins.
  • In the bottom of the third the Chippewas extended their lead to 7-2 on a RBI single.
  • Two scored on an error in the bottom of the fourth for Central to extend their lead to 9-2.
  • A solo homer from Jenna Golembiewski in the top of the fifth shortened the lead to 9-3.
  • Reagan Bartholomew hit a two-run homer in the top of the seventh to also score Golembiewski and cut the deficit to 9-5, but it was not enough for the RedHawks to come back, giving them their first conference loss of the season.
