RedHawks Edge Bulldogs 6-4

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Miami edged Butler on the road Wednesday 6-4 after holding the Bulldogs to just eight hits. The win avenged a loss to Butler on March 19 to make the RedHawks 1-1 on the year against the Bulldogs.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Dillon Baker led off for Miami in the top of the first and came up with a walk before advancing to second on a groundout. Ty Batusich then drove home Miami's first run of the game with an RBI double to left center.
  • Still with one out, Zach MacDonald reached on an error which also sent Batusich to third base. Ryan Novak scored Batusich with a sacrifice fly to put the RedHawks in front 2-0 early.
  • Butler battled back in the second inning on a two RBI double with two outs to make it 2-2 at the end of the second.
  • The Bulldogs struck again in the third, taking their first lead at 3-2.
  • Batusich walked to lead off the fifth for Miami and advanced twice on a wild pitch and a fielding error on the subsequent at bat. An RBI single by David Novak tied the game at three a piece for Miami.
  • A home run put Butler ahead once again at 4-3 after five innings of play.
  • Baker walked in the top of the sixth and advanced on a single by Ryland Zaborowski. Batusich then took an HBP to load the bases and a sacrifice fly by MacDonald tied the game once again at 4-4.
  • Tyler Gordon took a leadoff walk in the eighth and Baker followed suit with another walk to advance Gordon. Both runners advanced on a wild pitch and a sac fly by Zaborowski drove in the go-ahead run to give the RedHawks a 5-4 lead.
  • Blaze Buzzeo singled to center field in the ninth and Gordon singled on the next at bat to score Buzzeo and give Miami an insurance run.
  • Two strikeouts and a flyout thrown by pitcher Carson Byers took care of the Bulldogs in the bottom of the ninth and secured a 6-4 victory for Miami.
