OXFORD, Ohio – Matt Kuhn has been named the Senior Director of Development/Assistant Athletic Director for Miami Athletics.
Kuhn, a seasoned development officer for Miami University since 2012, has spent the past two years as the Senior Director of Development in the Office of Gift Planning. His particular focus was geared towards donors capable of $100,00+ gifts and has already raised $3.6 million during the current 2024 fiscal year. In this role he raised over $5 million in just two years.
"I have been fortunate to learn so much about fundraising from Jayne Whitehead and many other colleagues during my years in Gift Planning and at Miami," said Kuhn. "I am thrilled to bring those skills and commitment to this institution to bear on the mission of Graduating Champions."
Prior to his promotion, Kuhn was the Associate Director of Development in the Office of Gift Planning from 2016-22. In his final year in that role, he raised $4.2 million, working on major gifts ranging from $25,000 to $2 million. He began his Miami career as an Assistant Director of Development in the College of Arts and Sciences from 2012-16.
"The Miami Athletic Fund is excited to have Matt join our team as an experienced relationship builder," said Brad Okel, Miami's Assistant VP of Development/Associate AD of Revenue Generation. "Matt's time as a collegiate student-athlete and extensive major giving experience will allow us to continue to elevate our ability to continue to Graduate Champions."
Kuhn enjoyed success at several other stops along the way in his career in private industry, including experiences at large international companies, family-owned businesses, and startups. Most notably, he spent eight years at GlaxoSmithKline as a pharmaceutical sales representative where he got his start in relationship-based selling.
Kuhn was a member of the Columbia University football team from 1994-97 and was defensive co-captain of the 1997 team. He completed his degree in economics-philosophy in 1998.
