RedHawks Close Season With 68-64 Win Over Ohio

OXFORD, Ohio – Hennessey Luu-Brown scored a career-high 20 points for the Miami University women's basketball team in a 68-64 victory over Ohio University on Saturday afternoon in Millett Hall. Senior Jadyn Scott added 15 points as the RedHawks finished the season at 9-20, 6-12 MAC. Kennedi Watkins scored a team-high 14 points for the Bobcats (11-18, 8-10 MAC).

How it Happened:
  • Miami's defense was outstanding to begin the game, as the RedHawks led 10-3 seven minutes into the contest. A Katey Richason put-back gave Miami a 14-4 advantage and after Ohio converted a three-point play, Amber Tretter answered with a triple atop the key as the RedHawks led 17-7 after 10 minutes of play.
  • After Ohio trimmed their deficit to 20-13 early in the second, Hennessey Luu-Brown knocked in her second three-pointer of the game and Núria Jurjo and Jada Scott connected on back-to-back layups for a 27-13 lead, forcing an Ohio timeout. The OU timeout did little to slow down the RedHawks as Jadyn Scott scored six straight for the Red and White for a 20-point Miami advantage, 33-13. Miami led 33-17 at the half.
  • Tretter's layup four minutes into the second half matched Miami's largest lead of the game, 42-22. Ohio scored six-straight to shrink the deficit to 14, but Luu-Brown scored five points in 30 seconds to claim a 19-point advantage with two minutes left in the third. Miami led 51-38 entering the fourth.
  • Ohio opened the fourth on a 5-1 run to trail by just seven with eight minutes to play. Miami responded with a 4-0 run to claim an 11-point lead with five minutes to go. Ohio made it 64-57 with a minute to play, but three free throws from Tretter made it 67-57. Ohio used a 7-1 run late in the contest to close the gap, 68-64, but Miami would walk away the victor.
