Miami Hockey begins the postseason with a best-of-three NCHC quarterfinal series at No. 5/5 North Dakota. The RedHawks finished the regular season with a record of 7-24-3 (1-21-2 NCHC) after dropping two games at then-No. 15/14 Western Michigan last week. UND is 24-10-2 (15-8-1 NCHC) after two losses at then-No. 16/17 Omaha last weekend. This week will be Miami's sixth straight series against a top-20 team. The winner of the quarterfinal series will advance to the Frozen Faceoff in St. Paul, Minn. (March 22-23).
Game 1 is set for Friday, March 15 at 8:07 p.m. ET in Grand Forks, N.D., with Game 2 scheduled for the following night at 7:07 p.m. ET. Game 3 (if necessary) will begin at 7:07 p.m. on Sunday, March 17. The games will stream on NCHC.tv, with radio coverage from Greg Waddell (play-by-play) and Patrick Geshan (analyst) available either on WMOH 1450 AM The Ticket (Hamilton, Ohio) or MiamiRedHawks.com.
The Fighting Hawks lead the all-time series 29-8-4 and are 15-1-1 in the last 17 meetings. North Dakota won all four matchups this season, including an overtime game on Feb. 2, 2024 in Oxford.
Matthew Barbolini (11-14-25) leads the RedHawks in points and assists this season. The senior forward shares the team lead in goals with
PJ Fletcher (11-12-23).
Logan Neaton is 6-12-2 in net and owns a 2.97 GAA and .903 save percentage in 20 starts, while
Bruno Bruveris is 1-12-1 between the pipes (.866 save % and 4.16 GAA).
