RedHawks Travel North to Face Rockets

ON TAP: The Miami University women's basketball team hits the road for just the second time this month for a Wednesday tilt versus the University of Toledo. Opening tip is set for 7 p.m. in Savage Arena.

FRESHMAN PHENOM: Amber Tretter has recorded six-straight double-doubles and is averaging 16.5 points and 13.1 rebounds per game since Jan. 27 (last six games). Overall, the freshman is second in scoring (10.3) and first in rebounding (7.6) for Miami. She has eight double-doubles this season and has led Miami in scoring in four of the past six games. She also ranks third in the MAC with 1.2 blocks/game.

IN WITH THE NEW: Head Coach Glenn Box and his staff brought in nine new players for the 2023-24 campaign. Joining the RedHawks are four transfers and five freshmen, including one from Spain and two from Canada.

SWINGING 60'S: Miami is 3-2 this season when scoring at least 60 points and 4-14 when it fails to reach that mark. Miami beat Xavier earlier this season with 58 points and had a 56-point victory over BGSU.

ABOUT TOLEDO: Toledo is 19-4 overall and 11-1 in MAC play this season, and have won seven-straight contests. The Rockets rank third in the MAC with a 71.8 scoring average and are led by Quinesha Lockett (15.9) and Sophia Wiard (15.3).

SERIES WITH THE ROCKETS: This will be the 75th meeting between the two schools with Toledo holding a 43-31 all-time advantage. Toledo has won the last five matchups and Miami has not won in Toledo since Feb. 17, 2021.

ROUND TWO VERSUS UT: Miami dropped a 70-52 decision against Toledo back on Jan. 3 to begin MAC play. The RedHawks trailed by one (44-43) with 12 minutes to go before a 14-6 Toledo run between the third/fourth quarter put the game out of reach. Miami was led by Jadyn Scott (13) and Katey Richason (12).

WMU RECAP: Jadyn Scott poured in a game-high 20 points and Amber Tretter produced her sixth consecutive double-double (10 points and 17 rebounds) as Miami defeated Western Michigan 58-50 last Saturday. Hennessey Luu-Brown added 11 points and Cori Lard chipped in 10 for the RedHawks.

WE'RE GOING STREAKING: Miami enters Wednesday's contest on a two-game win streak. While that may not seem like much, the last time Miami won back-to-back games was Feb. 18/Feb. 22, 2023 in wins versus Buffalo and NIU.

BENCH PRESS: Recently, Miami added 26 bench points at Ball State, 27 at EMU and 29 in the win over Western Michigan last month, but over Miami's last six games, the bench has combined to register just 24 points. Much of Miami's bench issues can be contributed to Katey Richason and Lakresha Edwards missing the past month of games.

GREAT SCOTT: Jadyn Scott has scored 47 points in the last two games, including 27 in a win over Georgia State and 20 points last Saturday versus WMU. Prior to the contest versus the Panthers, the senior had scored in double digits just once in a seven-game stretch.

RETURN OF THE MAC: Since MAC play has begun, Richason has averaged 9.3 points and 8.3 rebounds a game. Miami is 2-0 this season when Richason records a double-double. The junior, who has missed the last four games with an injury had 10 points and nine rebounds in a win over Bowling Green and added career-best in points (15) and rebounds (13) at WMU, also a Miami win.

SISTER, SISTER: Twin sisters Jadyn and Jada Scott were four-year letter winners for the Cincinnati Bearcats before joining Miami. The duo combined to play in 194 games in their career at UC. Last season Jadyn was eighth on the team in scoring (3.6), while Jada was 11th (1.8). In their first year with the RedHawks the duo ranks first and fifth for Miami in scoring.

WOMAN OF STEAL: Junior Cori Lard ranks second in the MAC with 2.2 steals per contest. She had a career-high five steals against Western Kentucky and has multiple steals in a game 14 times this season. She has had at least four steals in a game six different times this year.

REAL STEAL: Speaking of steals, Miami has 98 steals over their past 10 games, including a season-best 15 in the loss at Eastern Michigan. The RedHawks have recorded double-digit steals seven times this season, six coming in the last 10 games.

NEW ADDITION: Jessie Gauna, a freshman on the Miami field hockey team, joined the RedHawks basketball program on Monday, Jan. 26 to add some much needed depth to the roster. She averaged 10 points per game and was a second-team all-league member her senior year of high school.
