HOW IT HAPPENED

Gonzalez added pull-up jumpers from the right and left elbows over the next few minutes to account for an 8-8 tie. Ilse de Vries tracked down an offensive rebound and fed Singer for a triple in the final minute of the quarter, as the teams were deadlocked 11-11 after 10 minutes.
- In a defensive second quarter, a Katey Richason offensive rebound and putback pulled Miami within 15-14 with 7:29 to play in the half. After a circus shot by Gonzalez trimmed the visitors' lead to 19-16, the Boilermakers scored the next seven points. A Maya Chandler steal and free throw with one second left closed the margin to 26-17 at halftime.
- Miami drained five three-pointers in the third period, beginning with a pick-and-pop shot from long range by de Vries. Purdue then took its largest lead at 33-20, but Miami responded with back-to-back threes by Gonzalez and Richason to get within 33-26. Singer scored from beyond the arc to make it 37-29, and a Lakresha Edwards triple later from the right corner made it 39-33 at the 1:07 mark. Amber Tretter added a pair of free throws in the final minute of the quarter, as Miami entered the fourth quarter trailing 39-35.
- Three-pointers by Edwards and Singer early in the final period kept the RedHawks close, with Purdue clinging to a 44-41 lead. Miami would then claw within a single point at 44-43 on a Singer baseline pull-up with 6:53 to go. Purdue answered with an 8-1 run before Tretter buried a three-pointer in transition to make it 52-47 with 3:15 to play.
