ON TAP: The Miami University women's basketball team looks for its first 2-0 start since 2018-19 as the RedHawks travel to face Xavier on Sunday, Nov. 10. Opening tip is slated for 1 p.m.

IN WITH THE NEW: Head coach Glenn Box added seven new players to the roster, including four freshman and three transfers from Illinois, Mercer and Loyola Chicago.

DOUBLE TROUBLE: Amber Tretter recorded 10 double-doubles last season as a true freshman with the RedHawks. In fact, her 222 rebounds was the most in a single-season by a freshman in program history. She opened the year with a game-high 13 points and nine rebounds in the win over App State.

ABOUT XAVIER: Xavier is coming off a 55-36 loss on Tuesday to San Jose State. Julia Garcia Roig led the team with eight points.

SERIES WITH XAVIER: This will be the 20th meeting between the two schools with the RedHawks holding a 12-7 all-time series advantage. Miami has won three of the past four meetings and has not lost at Xavier since the 1999-00 season.

LAST MEETING WITH THE MUSKETEERS: Freshman Amber Tretter's put back with 6.5 seconds remaining gave Miami a 58-57 overtime win over Xavier back on Nov. 27, 2023. The win was the first for head coach Glenn Box. Jadyn Scott had a team-high 16 points for the RedHawks. She was joined in double figures by Lakresha Edwards (14) and Katey Richason (11).

APP STATE RECAP: Three RedHawks scored in double figures as Miami defeated Appalachian State University 75-48 on Monday evening to begin the 2024-25 season. Amber Tretter led the way with 13 points and was followed by Enjulina Gonzalez (12 points) and Ilse de Vries (10 points). Maya Chandler was tops on the team with six assists, while Tretter had a game-high nine rebounds.

OFFENSIVE EXPLOSION: The 75 points Miami scored versus App State would have been the second-highest point total for all of last season (scored 80 versus Georgia State). In fact, Miami only broke 70 points twice during the entire 2023-24 season. Miami scored 23 or more points in a quarter five times all last year. The RedHawks led 23-4 after one quarter of play and later scored 29 points in the third quarter (had a 20-0 run) against the Mountaineers. Miami also connected on 10 triples (season-high was nine last year).

YOUTH MOVEMENT: Miami started four players (two freshmen) that weren't even on campus a year ago. In fact, six different newcomers scored in the win on Monday. Freshman Ilse de Vries had 10 points and six boards, while another freshman, Tamar Singer had five points and finished second on the team with five assists.

MAGNIFICENT SEVEN: Coach Box added seven new faces to the 2024-25 season and their impact was felt immediately. Newcomers provided 50.7% of Miami's 75 points, 26 of the team's 44 rebounds and 16 of the team's 17 assists.

HANGING AROUND: Senior Katey Richason, along with Clare Chambers, are the lone remaining players prior to Coach Box's arrival. Richason has made the most of the change in leadership. Last season the Zionsville, Ind. native recorded career-bests in points (8.7), rebounds (5.7) and free throws made (34).

REDHAWKS PICKED EIGHTH IN PRESEASON POLL: Miami was picked eighth in the preseason coaches poll. Ball State finished atop the preseason rankings with 120 points and were followed by Kent State (104), Buffalo (98), Bowling Green (96), Toledo (82), Northern Illinois (64), Ohio (64), Miami (44), Akron (43), Western Michigan (34), Eastern Michigan (23) and Central Michigan (20).
