CLEVELAND-- The Mid-American Conference announced its 2024 MAC Women's Soccer Postseason Specialty Award winners today. Three members of the Miami University soccer team were recognized: Taylor Hamlett, Jamie Hlebec and Maris Jennings. Hamlett earned First-Team All-MAC honors, while Hlebec was named Second-Team All-MAC. Jennings was selected to the conference's All-Freshman Team.
Hamlett, a team captain, played 1,154 minutes across 18 matches this season, all of which she started. She had 10 goals and four assists, becoming the first RedHawk since 2014 to score double-digit goals in a single season, and finished the year with three game-winning goals. Hamlett had 63 shots, 27 of which were on goal. She helped the RedHawks beat Ball State at home with a brace and an assist in a 3-2 win on Oct. 18 and set a school record with 16 shots in the match, breaking the old record by five shots. She recorded a total of four goals and two assists across the opening two games of the season, earning a national Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week honor. She was also named the MAC Offensive Player of the Week twice this season.
Hlebec started all 19 matches this season, playing a total of 1,691 minutes for the RedHawks. She scored three goals on eight shots, including five shots on goal. Hlebec led the RedHawks' defense to seven clean sheets this season. She scored a game-winning goal in a 4-0 victory at Chicago State in September. Hlebec also scored the tying goal against Buffalo on Oct. 27 to help Miami post its first unbeaten home regular season since 1999. Â
Jennings played 1,596 minutes across 19 matches, starting all 19. She recorded five assists, leading the Red and White in that stat and tying for seventh in the conference. Jennings ranked fourth on the team in shots (19) and fifth in minutes played. She was Miami's short free-kick and corner taker for a majority of the season. Jennings helped Miami remain unbeaten at home for the entire season, including holding nationally-ranked South Carolina to a 0-0 result in Oxford earlier this year. She was recognized by Top Drawer Soccer in their mid-season top 100 freshmen at No. 83 and was the only MAC player on the list.
