RedHawks Drop 3-0 Decision at Omaha

OMAHA, Neb.– The Miami University hockey team dropped its series opener at Omaha 3-0 Friday night. Ethan Dahlmeir made 29 saves for the RedHawks (3-10-2, 0-5-0 NCHC). Simon Latkoczy stopped all 24 shots he faced for the Mavericks (4-7-0, 2-3-0 NCHC).

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • 3:10 1st (Omaha 1-0) | The Mavericks scored in the game's fourth minute to take an early lead. Dylan Gratton sent a pass to Jacob Guevin in the middle of the rink, and Guevin carried the puck into the Miami zone before dropping it off for Myles Hilman. Hilman fired a quick shot from the top of the faceoff circle to put UNO on top 1-0.
  • 17:22 2nd (Omaha 2-0) | After several dangerous Miami chances on a power play, Omaha came the other way for a short-handed goal to double its lead. Sam Stange fought to knock the puck free at his own blue line and raced down the right side before laying a feed off to Cam Mitchell behind him. Dahlmeir saved the initial shot attempt, but Mitchell converted on his own rebound to make it 2-0. Joe Gramer was also credited with an assist on the play.
  • 6:47 3rd (Omaha 3-0) | The home team added to its lead in the third period, as Chase LaPinta muscled a puck away in the neutral zone, skated to his right, and was able to get a shot off from a tough angle along the goal line that sneaked in to give UNO a 3-0 advantage. Stange and Aiden Gallacher had the assists.

NOTES
  • Miami went 5-for-5 on the penalty kill and improved to 49-for-53 this season (.925).
  • John Emmons went 7-for-8 in the faceoff circle.
  • Casper Nassen led the Red and White with four shots on goal.
  • William Hallén returned to the Miami lineup after missing the last seven games.
