ON TAP: The Miami University women's basketball team looks for its first 3-1 start since the 2021-22 season, with a Sunday, Nov. 17 contest versus Austin Peay. Opening tip is scheduled for 1 p.m. and will be carried live on ESPN+.
DOUBLE TROUBLE: Amber Tretter recorded 10 double-doubles last season as a true freshman with the RedHawks. In fact, her 222 rebounds was the most in a single-season by a freshman in program history. This season she is nearly averaging a double-double in points (13.7) and rebounds (7.3), despite only playing 23.0 minutes per contest. She is also 14-of-21 (66.7%) from the floor to begin the year.
TAKING CARE OF THE BALL: Last season Miami averaged 11.6 assists compared to 18.9 turnovers and had more assists than turnovers just three times in 29 contests. Through three games in 2024-25, Miami has 54 assists and 52 turnovers.
ABOUT AUSTIN PEAY: Austin Peay is 1-2 on the year and is coming off a 74-56 win over Indiana State on Friday night. Sa'Mya Wyatt leads the way at 12.0 points per game while La'Nya Foster is averaging 9.3 points and 6.3 boards a contest.
SERIES WITH APU: Miami is 4-1 all-time versus Austin Peay, but just 1-0 versus the Governors in Oxford, Ohio.
LAST MEETING WITH THE GOVERNORS: Miami dropped a 53-44 contest at Austin Peay last season on Dec. 30.

Amber Tretter poured in 10 points and nine rebounds.
TIFFIN RECAP: Eleven different players scored for Miami in an 84-53 win over the Tiffin Dragons on Thursday night at Millett Hall.
Emily Bratton scored a career-high 14 points, while
Lakresha Edwards (12),
Amber Tretter (12) and
Hennessey Luu-Brown (12) also scored in double figures. Bratton and
Maya Chandler added three assists apiece and Edwards had a game-high six rebounds.
OFFENSIVE EXPLOSION: Miami is averaging 75.0 points this season after averaging 53.9 points last year. Helping with the offensive improvement have been three point shooting, assists and rebounds. This season Miami is connecting on 9.0 three's per game (4.9 in 2023-24) and are outrebounding their opponents by 5.7 boards/game (-3.8 in 2023-24). Miami is also averaging 18.0 assists per game, compared to 11.6 last season. The single-season highest scoring average in program history is 77.5, set during the 1981-82 campaign.
YOUTH MOVEMENT: Miami has started four players (two freshmen) that weren't even on campus a year ago in the first two games of the season. In fact, six different newcomers have scored this season and five of Miami's top seven scorers are new in 2024-25.
MAGNIFICENT SEVEN: Coach Box added seven new faces to the 2024-25 season and their impact was felt immediately. Newcomers have scored 114 of 225 points (50.7%), 54 of 117 rebounds (46.2%) and 37 of 54 assists (68.5%).

Maya Chandler, not only is she fifth on the team, averaging 7.0 points/game, she also leads the MAC in assist to turnover ratio (13/2). Chandler had six assists and no turnovers in the win over App State and added four assists and a pair of turnovers at Xavier. She had three assists and no turnovers against Tiffin in 11 minutes of action. Her 6.5 assist/turnover ratio is nearly twice as good as Ally Becki (Ball State), who is second in the MAC (3.7).
1000 POINT CLUB: Maya Chandler has scored 1,047 career points between three different programs. She has scored 21 points with the RedHawks, had 149 points in one season at SMU and in three years at Loyola-Chicago she scored 877 points and was named the Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Year in 2020-21. She has played in 120 games throughout her career, making 100 starts.
HANGING AROUND: Senior
Katey Richason, along with
Clare Chambers, are the lone remaining players prior to Coach Box's arrival. Richason has made the most of the change in leadership. Last season the Zionsville, Ind. native recorded career-bests in points (8.7), rebounds (5.7) and free throws made (34).
REDHAWKS PICKED EIGHTH IN PRESEASON POLL: Miami was picked eighth in the preseason coaches poll. Ball State finished atop the preseason rankings with 120 points and were followed by Kent State (104), Buffalo (98), Bowling Green (96), Toledo (82), Northern Illinois (64), Ohio (64), Miami (44), Akron (43), Western Michigan (34), Eastern Michigan (23) and Central Michigan (20).
