Minnesota Duluth Tops Miami 5-0

OXFORD, Ohio– The Miami University hockey team dropped a 5-0 decision to Minnesota Duluth Friday night at Steve "Coach" Cady Arena. Ethan Dahlmeir made 24 saves for the RedHawks (3-8-2, 0-3-0 NCHC). Dominic James had three points to lead the Bulldogs (4-6-0, 1-2-0 NCHC).

- 15:08 1st (UMD 1-0) | Carter Loney got the Bulldogs out to a 1-0 lead with just under five minutes remaining in the first period, stuffing home a rebound of a Joe Molenaar shot. Ty Hanson sent the puck in behind the net to start the play and was credited with the second assist.
- 18:07 1st (UMD 2-0) | Jack Smith scored to double the Bulldog lead three minutes later. Matthew Perkins skated the puck behind the Miami goal and found Blake Bechen, who sent a pass across that tipped off Smith in front.
- 12:12 2nd (UMD 3-0) | James took the puck from the blue line to the back of the net to make it a 3-0 lead for the Bulldogs. After Aiden Dubinsky retrieved the puck in the Bulldogs' defensive zone and sent it ahead, Jayson Shaugabay got a piece of it along the wall to set up James for a shot between the circles.
- 14:13 3rd (UMD 4-0) | Anthony Menghini scored from the top of the faceoff circle to make it a 4-0 game. Kyle Bettens gave him the pass that led to the scoring opportunity. James controlled the puck in the neutral zone to get the play started.
- 18:16 3rd (UMD 5-0) | Dubinsky made it a 5-0 score late in the third period, scoring off the rebound from James' shot. Shaugabay set the play up for his second assist of the night.
NOTES
- The RedHawks committed just one penalty, the team's fewest in a game since March 4, 2023.
- Colby Ambrosio matched his season high with five shots on goal; the last time Ambrosio had more shots on goal was Oct. 13, 2023 with Boston College (seven).
- The RedHawks had a streak of 40 consecutive games with at least one goal (dating to Nov. 4, 2023) snapped with the result.
- Miami improved to 42-for-45 on the penalty kill this season (.933)
