RedHawks Down Chips 3-1

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – On Friday afternoon the Miami University field hockey team took down Central Michigan University 3-1. This moves the RedHawks to 9-7 on the season and 6-1 in the Mid-American Conference. Central Michigan drops to 3-12 (0-7 MAC).
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Neither team was able to break through the 0-0 score by the end of the first quarter.
  • During a penalty corner five minutes into the second quarter, Henriette Schlueter scored off an assist from Paula Peña Martinez to give the RedHawks a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
  • With just over a minute remaining in the third quarter, Katherine Groff scored off an assist from Berta Mata to double the RedHawks' lead to 2-0.
  • Seconds later, Mata scored to make it 3-0 Miami heading into the fourth quarter.
  • Central Michigan managed a goal a few minutes into the fourth quarter to get on the board 3-1, but it would not be enough for them to come back, handing the RedHawks the 3-1 victory.

UP NEXT: The RedHawks go up against Kent State University in Oxford, Ohio on Nov. 1 at 2 p.m. for their last regular season game.
