Tylinski Joins Miami as Sports Psychologist

Miami University Athletics has announced that Dr. Katherine Tylinski has returned as its Staff Psychologist/Coordinator for Clinical Services. Tylinski, who originally served in this role back in 2020, will focus on providing one on one consultations and team/group sessions to assist with stress management, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, sports performance anxiety and other mental/behavioral health conditions. Â

"I am thrilled to be back at Miami University and looking forward to opportunities to continue providing support for our student athletes in their endeavors both on and off the field," said Tylinski.Â

Prior to joining Miami Athletics, Tylinski worked for Miami University in the Student Counseling Service Department as a Psychology Intern in 2019.

Before moving to Oxford, she spent time at Illinois State (Student Counseling Services, 2018-19), Aurora University (Counseling Services, 2017-18), City College of Chicago (Wilber Wright College Wellness Center, 2016-17), Winfield Woods Healthcare Center (Clerk, 2015-16) and served as a volunteer for the Sexual Assault Response Network of Central Ohio (SARNCO) in 2014-15.

"I am thrilled to have Dr. Tylinksi return to MU Counseling Center and Intercollegiate Athletics," said Jennifer Beardslee, Miami's Assistant AD for Wellness Services. "Her past experience as a Division I student-athlete, along with her expertise in assisting student-athletes with mental performance and behavioral health conditions, is a huge enhancement to the services we are able to provide them."

Tylinski earned her Bachelor of Arts in International Studies – Security and Intelligence in 2013 from Ohio State. She was also a member of the Buckeyes rowing team from 2009-13, helping to win a Big Ten Championship in 2011 and 2013 and capturing a National Championship her senior year. She wasn't just a champion as a competitor. She also earned All-Academic Big Ten and was a four-year scholar athlete award winner.

She went on to earn her master's degree in business administration from Ohio Dominican University in 2016 and added a master's degree in clinical psychology from Midwestern University in 2017. She completed her doctorate of clinical psychology from Midwestern in 2020.
