Miami University alumnus Danny Hall will be inducted tonight into the American Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame as part of a 10-member class.Â
Hall, who graduated with Bachelor's ('77) and Master's ('79) degrees from Miami, played baseball for the Red and White from 1974-77. He ranks seventh in program history with 104 career walks, was named All-MAC in his junior and senior years, and was part of Miami's 1974 MAC Championship team. His teams made NCAA appearances in 1974 and 1977. Hall went on to serve as a graduate assistant with Miami's program from 1978-1979 under Bud Middaugh, later following Middaugh to the University of Michigan to take an assistant coach position.
Since leaving Oxford, Hall has gone on to produce a career record of 1,378-749-1 (.648) in 36 seasons as a head coach, including 1,170 wins over the past three decades at Georgia Tech (the most among any active NCAA coach in the nation). Hall has led the Yellow Jackets to three College World Series appearances, six Super Regionals and a total of 23 NCAA Regional berths. He is a four-time ACC Coach of the Year and was honored as Sporting News' National Coach of the Year in 1997. He previously posted 208 wins, including multiple MAC championships, MAC coach of the year honors and NCAA appearances in a half-dozen seasons at Kent State (1988-93).
Hall was inducted into the Miami Athletics Hall of Fame in 1998 and into the Cradle of Coaches in 2006.
Hall and the other ABCA Hall of Fame honorees will be recognized this evening during a banquet at the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center in Dallas, Texas.Â
