IN WITH THE NEW: Head Coach Glenn Box and his staff brought in eight new players for the 2023-24 campaign. Joining the RedHawks are four transfers and four freshmen, including one from Spain and two from Canada.

ROAD WARRIORS: Saturday will be Miami's eighth road game this season, having played at home just four times. Miami was home just once the entire month of December.

ABOUT NIU: Northern Illinois is 6-6 this season and 0-1 in conference playing, coming off a 67-49 loss at home to Eastern Michigan. Jayden Marable leads the team in scoring (12.9) and is third in rebounding (4.5). Brooke Stonebraker ranks third in the MAC at 7.6 rebounds per contest.

SERIES WITH THE HUSKIES: This will be the 47th meeting between the two programs, with the all-time series knotted up at 23-23. Miami has won the last three meetings.

TOLEDO RECAP: Miami went toe-to-toe with the Mid-American Conference preseason favorites, Toledo Rockets, on Wednesday evening, falling 70-52. Miami trailed by one with 12 minutes to play and was led by Jadyn Scott (13) and Katey Richason (12). Miami had a season-high 13 fast-break points and matched their season best with 20 bench points.

YOUTH MOVEMENT: Head Coach Glenn Box has made a youth movement with the team. He regularly starts three or four freshman each night, and freshmen Lakresha Edwards, Amber Tretter and Núria Jurjo have started each of the past eight contests. Freshman Maddy Huhn has started all but two games this year.

NEW IMPACT: Miami's newcomers have dominated the box score this season, recording 90% of the points, 88% of the rebounds, 91% of field goals made and 92% of minutes played.

RICHASON RETURNS: After missing four-straight games from Dec. 6-21, junior Katey Richason returned to the lineup versus Austin Peay on Dec. 30. Richason had six points and six rebounds in just 14 minutes of action versus the Governors and had 12 points and seven boards at home against Toledo.

SISTER, SISTER: Twin sisters Jadyn and Jada Scott were four-year letter winners for the Cincinnati Bearcats before joining Miami. The duo combined to play in 194 games in their career at UC. Last season Jadyn was eighth on the team in scoring (3.6), while Jada was 11th (1.8). In their first year with the RedHawks the duo ranks first and fifth for Miami in scoring.

EDWARDS EXPLOSION: After scoring five total points in Miami's first three games, freshman Lakresha Edwards has combined for 72 points over the past eight contests. She had a career-best 15 points at EKU and added 14 points in the win over Xavier. She has made 17 triples over her last eight games and ranks 12th in the MAC with 18 made three pointers this season.

CHASING HISTORY: Freshman Amber Tretter posted 19 points, 13 rebounds and six assists in the win over Oakland back on Dec. 21. She was four assists away from becoming just the third RedHawk in program history to record a triple-double. Linda Mallender was a junior for her lone triple-double in 1984 and Maddi Cluse did the same last year as a sophomore.

CLOSING IN ON 500: Jadyn Scott has scored 482 career points, 18 shy of 500 for her career. She scored 343 points in 102 games with the Cincinnati Bearcats and has posted 139 points this year with the Red and White.

GOING THE DISTANCE: Both of Miami's victories this season have come in overtime. Miami picked up its first win of the year in a 58-57 overtime victory against Xavier (Nov. 27) and added a 68-66 OT win at Oakland on Dec. 21.

KEEPING IT CLOSE: Despite the 2-9 record, Miami has had several contests that entered the fourth quarter with the result yet to be determined.
• Jan. 3  - Miami trailed 44-43 with 12 minutes to play versus Toledo (L, 70-52).
• Dec. 16 - Miami trailed 48-42 at Michigan with 8:29 left in the contest (L, 75-49).
