RedHawks Drop Contest to Central Michigan, 64-59

OXFORD, Ohio – After falling behind 14-0 early in the first, the Miami University women's basketball team took an early third quarter lead before faltering late to Central Michigan on Wednesday night, 64-59. Amber Tretter finished the contest with 27 points and 16 rebounds for Miami (4-15, 2-7 MAC), while CMU (5-14, 3-6 MAC) was led by Karrington Gordon's 19 points.

How it Happened:
- Central Michigan opened the contest on a 14-0 run in the first five minutes of action. A layup from Núria Jurjo got Miami on the scoreboard with a layup with 4:11 left in the quarter. With the Chippewas leading 16-2, Tretter drove through the lane for a bucket and a triple from Hennessey Luu-Brown shrunk the deficit to 16-7. CMU led 18-9 after 10 minutes of play.
- Cori Lard began the second with a three-point play and a jumper three minutes later from the junior cut CMU's advantage to 21-16. CMU answered with a 5-0 run to push the lead back to double digits before a 16-foot jumper from Tretter made it 26-18. Moments later Jada Scott and Tretter drilled back-to-back triples to make it a two-point game. CMU led 32-30 at the half.
- Tretter scored the first six points of the third and a put-back from Luu-Brown gave Miami a 38-32 advantage. CMU responded with a 10-2 to reclaim the lead, 42-40. Maddy Huhn found Tretter for a layup to knot the score at 42 apiece, but a late CMU bucket gave the Chips a two-point advantage entering the fourth.
- Jadyn Scott's three-point play early in the fourth spotted Miami a 47-44 advantage, but CMU responded with a 12-6 run to claim a 56-53 advantage with three minutes to play. Jadyn Scott's jumper made it a one-point game and after two-straight free throws, the Chips led 58-55 with 1:04 remaining. Luu-Brown knocked in a free throw with under a minute to go, but CMU answered with a layup to extend their advantage to four. Miami got as close as 62-59 after a Lard jumper, but could get no closer.
Game Notes:
- Amber Tretter recorded her fourth double-double of the season, finishing with a career-high in points (27) and rebounds (16).
- Cori Lard and Hennessey Luu-Brown each came away with three steals.
- Miami matched its season-low with 12 turnovers.
