ATHENS, Ohio – The Miami University women's basketball team dropped a 71-55 decision to the Ohio Bobcats on Saturday afternoon in the annual Battle of the Bricks.
Amber Tretter had 19 points and 12 rebounds to lead Miami (4-14, 2-6 MAC), while Bailey Tabeling had a career-high 20 points for Ohio (7-11, 4-4 MAC).
How it Happened:
- After Ohio opened the contest with a 5-0 run, Jada Scott's triple got Miami on the board two minutes into the game. Tretter's jumper tied the contest at 5-5, but the Bobcats answered with an 8-0 run and led 13-5 midway through the opening quarter. Ohio stretched their advantage, 16-7, but back-to-back layups from Tretter made it 16-11 after one.
- Ohio scored 22 seconds into the second for an 18-11 lead, but Miami scored five straight, holding the Bobcats without a field goal for over four minutes of play. OU answered with an 18-4 run in the final five minutes of the first half and led 36-20 heading to the third.
- The Bobcats scored the first 11 points of the second half, claiming a 47-20 advantage. Tretter and Jadyn Scott combined to go 10-for-10 from the foul line in the third, trimming the deficit, 55-40 with one minute left in the third. An Ohio put-back late in the quarter made in 57-40 heading to the final stanza.
- A triple from Cory Lard made it 64-49 with 6:32 to go, but the RedHawks would get no closer.
Game Notes:
- Amber Tretter had her third career double-double, finish with 19 points and 12 rebounds. She was also 10-of-10 from the foul line.
- Cori Lard had a career-high six assists.
- Hennessey Luu-Brown recorded a career-high five steals.
