OXFORD, Ohio – With the help of four double-digit scorers, the Miami University women's basketball added a 56-47 win over Bowling Green on Saturday afternoon. Miami (4-12, 2-4) was led by
Cori Lard, who finished with 12 points. Erika Porter was tops on Bowling Green (10-6, 4-2 MAC) with 16 points.
How it Happened:
- Hennessey Luu-Brown opened the game with back-to-back triples and a fade-away jumper from Jadyn Scott gave Miami a quick 8-0 lead. After BG cut the deficit to 12-7, Amber Tretter drilled a three pointer and Lard's step-back jumper made it 17-7. The Falcons made a pair of free throws with 3.5 seconds left in the first and Lard made a triple two steps inside the half-court line as time expired for a 20-9 Miami advantage.
- BG scored six quick points to begin the second quarter, forcing a Glenn Box timeout. Following the timeout, Miami outscored the Orange and Brown 13-5, highlighted by three-point plays from Lard and Jada Scott late in the quarter. Miami led 33-20 at the half.
- The Falcons opened the third on a 4-0 run before Jada Scott scored five points in 16 seconds to stretch Miami's advantage to 14. BGSU closed the quarter on a 5-0 run, trimming Miami's lead, 45-35, entering the fourth quarter.
- Miami stretched its lead to 14 early in fourth and went up 15 after a Tretter three pointer mid-way through the final stanza. BGSU got no closer than 10 points in the Miami victory.
Game Notes:
- Cori Lard finished the contest with a career-high 11 points. The junior added four steals.
- Amber Tretter recorded 10 points and 11 rebounds for her second career double-double.
