RedHawks Fall Short at Eastern Michigan

YPSILANTI, Mich. – The Miami University women's basketball team dropped a 53-48 contest on Wednesday night at Eastern Michigan. Miami (3-12, 1-4 MAC) led 37-32 early in the fourth quarter before EMU (5-10, 2-3 MAC) posted a 13-0 run in a span of four minutes to walk away with the victory. Jada Scott led the RedHawks with 11 points.

How it Happened:
- After neither team scored for nearly three minutes into the contest, Jada Scott drilled a triple to open the scoring. EMU answered with an 8-2 run before Jada Scott's two free throws and a layup from Cori Lard made it 9-8 at the first media timeout. Jordan Tuff connected on a three and Hennessey Luu-Brown's spinning layup gave Miami a 14-8 advantage after 10 minutes of play.
- Miami's run continued into the second. After EMU opened the quarter with a free throw, Jada Scott and Amber Tretter made back-to-back layups for an 18-9 Miami lead with seven minutes to play in the opening half. The Eagles cut the deficit, 18-15, but Jada Scott's triple and Riley Neal's fade-away jumper pushed Miami to a 24-15 lead. The RedHawks led 26-19 at the half.
- EMU tied the contest at 26 apiece with a 7-0 run to begin the second half. Jada Scott's put-back gave Miami a 28-26 advantage, but the Eagles once again knotted up the score at 32-32 with one minute to play in the third. A pair of free throws from Katey Richason gave Miami a two-point advantage entering the final stanza.
- Amber Tretter opened the fourth with a triple, but back-to-back three-pointers from EMU forced a Miami timeout from head coach Glenn Box. The Eagles led 38-37 with 8:41 left in the contest. EMU's run continued out of the timeout, going up by eight, 45-37, with 5:30 to play before Jadyn Scott's jumper ended the Miami drought. Miami got as close as 51-46 with 40 seconds to play, but would fall to the Eagles.
Game Notes:
- Jada Scott finished the contest with 11 points, one shy of her career best.
- Amber Tretter matched her career best with two three-pointers made.
- Hennessey Luu-Brown finished Wednesday's contest with nine points, the most she has scored since Nov. 11 at Louisiana at Monroe.
- Miami had a season-high 15 steals, four by Cori Lard.
- Katey Richason finished the contest with nine rebounds and has 47 rebounds over her last five contests.
