OXFORD, Ohio — First-year head coach Brian Smiley and the Miami University Baseball team unveiled an exciting 2024 schedule Wednesday morning. The schedule is highlighted by six teams who advanced to the NCAA regionals last year: Ball State, Indiana, Kentucky, South Carolina (super regional), Wright State and Xavier. The Red and White will play 24 home games at McKie Field this season.
Following a trio of games at South Carolina (Feb.16-18) to open the season, the RedHawks will travel to Indiana for midweek action (Feb. 20). Miami then plays at Middle Tennessee State (Feb. 23-25) for a three-game set and concludes the month of February by hosting Wright State (Feb. 27).
The Red and White open the month of March with a home series against Oakland (Mar. 1-3) and follow this up with a single road game at Wright State (Mar. 5).
The next 10 weekends are set for MAC play, which starts Mar. 8-10 when Bowling Green comes to Oxford. The RedHawks then prepare to entertain Central Michigan (Mar. 15-17). Miami welcomes Cincinnati in the middle of the month (Mar. 20). The remainder of the month includes the first MAC road series of the spring at Northern Illinois (Mar. 22-24), a visit to Kentucky (Mar. 26) and more conference play at Akron (Mar. 28-30).
The Red and White begin the month of April competing in the Nuxhall Classic against Wright State at Prasco Park (April 2). Miami's second game of the Nuxhall Classic takes place April 9, with more information on an opponent and start time to be announced soon.
Miami returns home to face off with Ball State (April 5-7) and then heads to Western Michigan (April 12-14). The RedHawks remain on the road against Toledo April 19-21 before hosting Xavier on April 23. The month of April concludes with a home series versus Eastern Michigan (April 26-28).
The month of May begins with an away series at Kent State (May 3-5). Xavier comes to town for a single game on May 8. The schedule continues with a three-game home series versus Ohio in the Battle of the Bricks (May 10-12), followed by the final series of the regular season at McKie Field against East Tennessee State (May 16-18). The MAC Tournament is set for May 22-25 at the home field of the highest seed.
Head Coach Brian Smiley begins his first season at the helm of the Miami Baseball program, along with newcomers Kyle Trewyn and Larry Scully who round out the coaching staff.
