Miami resumes NCHC play this weekend with a home series against No. 10/10 Western Michigan. Miami enters the 2024 portion of its schedule with a 6-10-2 record (0-7-1 NCHC) after a series split at Niagara, losing 4-1 and winning 3-0. The Broncos are coming off a road sweep at Lindenwood last weekend (3-2 and 6-1 victories).
This weekend's games are set for Friday, Jan. 12 and Saturday, Jan. 13 with puck drop scheduled for 7:05 p.m. both nights. The games are available on NCHC.tv, with radio coverage from Greg Waddell (play-by-play) and Drew Davis (analyst) airing on WKBV 1490 AM (Richmond, Ind.).
Western Michigan leads the all-time series 81-70-13 and has won the last 10 meetings. Miami is looking for its first victory over WMU since Jan. 3, 2021 and first win against the Broncos at Steve "Coach" Cady Arena since Feb. 2, 2018.
Matthew Barbolini (8-11-19) and
PJ Fletcher (8-8-16) each have eight goals this season to lead Miami. Barbolini leads the Red and White in assists and points.
John Waldron (6-9-15) comes into January on a five-game point streak.
Logan Neaton is 5-9-2 in net and owns a 3.03 GAA and .900 save percentage in 16 starts. Freshman goaltender
