Indiana Hands Miami First Loss 2-0

OXFORD, Ohio – On Monday afternoon the Miami University field hockey team received their first loss of the season, falling 2-0 to Indiana. This puts the RedHawks at 3-1 on the season and the Hoosiers at 2-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
UP NEXT: The RedHawks will travel to College Park, Maryland to face off against the University of Maryland on Sept. 8 at 5 p.m.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The first quarter was back-and-forth resulting in a 0-0 score through its end. Early in the quarter Isabelle Perese successfully defended a penalty stroke.
- An incredible save by Perese and an aggressive offense from the RedHawks highlighted the second quarter of play, but unfortunately during a penalty corner with seconds left the Hoosiers scored to finish off the first half 1-0.
- Miami put up five shots in the third quarter, but could not get a goal, retaining the 1-0 score through the conclusion of the quarter.
- On a penalty stroke with less than 10 minutes remaining in the game Indiana scored to double their lead to 2-0.
- The Hoosiers held this lead through the remainder of the game, taking it 2-0.
UP NEXT: The RedHawks will travel to College Park, Maryland to face off against the University of Maryland on Sept. 8 at 5 p.m.
