RedHawks Defeat #17 Wake Forest 1-0 in Program's First Win Against ACC

WINSTON-SALEM, NC — It was Becca Kline who played hero with the lone goal in the Miami University field hockey team's 1-0 win against No. 17 Wake Forest University on Sunday afternoon. This moves Miami to 7-3 on the season (2-0 in Mid-American Conference) and drops Wake Forest to 3-4.

The RedHawks return home to Oxford, Ohio on Sept. 26 to face No. 4 University of Louisville at 2 p.m.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Through the first quarter neither team was able to get on the board, keeping it a 0-0 game.
- The second quarter ended like the first, sending the RedHawks into the second half tied 0-0 with the Demon Deacons.
- A strong Miami defense, led by Isabelle Perese's three saves, kept the game without a score through the end of the third.
- With under seven minutes remaining in the game, Kline put one in the back of the net for Miami to grab a 1-0 lead for the RedHawks.
