OXFORD, Ohio – In the top-25 matchup on Tuesday afternoon between the #25 Miami University field hockey team and #3 University of Louisville, Louisville took the contest 2-0. This drops the RedHawks to 7-4 on the season (2-0 MAC) and Louisville moves to 8-1 (0-1 ACC).

HOW IT HAPPENED:

A tough Miami defense held the game tied 0-0 through the end of the first quarter.
The first half ended with both teams locked in at 0-0 despite Louisville's 11 penalty corners and 10 shots. Goalkeeper Isabelle Perese had five saves heading into the third quarter.
Early in the third quarter, Louisville scored to take a 1-0 lead over Miami, which they held through the remainder of the quarter.
The Cardinals scored their second goal of the game under three minutes into the last quarter to double their lead to 2-0. They held this through the remainder of the game.

UP NEXT: The RedHawks will stay home in Oxford, Ohio this weekend to take on Bellarmine University in MAC play on Saturday, Sept. 30 at 12 p.m.
