OXFORD, Ohio – Miami University head softball coach Kirin Kumar has announced the addition of Caitlyn Nolan to her staff as an assistant coach.
"I am beyond thankful to Coach Kumar and Miami University for this opportunity," said Nolan. "Miami is an extremely successful program and I look forward to continue building on their success. I can't wait to get started!"
Nolan currently is playing professionally as a shortstop/second baseman for the Bologna Blue Girls in the Italian A1 Softball League in Bologna, Italy.
Prior to traveling overseas, she served as a Student Assistant Coach for Virginia Tech softball from 2019-21. Her main duties included infield skill and hitting development with the Hokies. She also served as an instructor at D-BAT Softball in 2021-22, facilitating infield and hitting instruction for all ages.
"We are beyond excited to welcome Caitlyn to our Softball family," said Kumar. "Her success as a player and familiarity with our hitting system plus her post collegiate playing experience makes her a great addition to our coaching staff. Seeing former players I've coached transition into young professionals is a bonus and I know the Miami alumni, friends, family and fans will enjoy having Caitlyn around."
Nolan made a name for herself as a shortstop with Virginia Tech softball from 2015-19. In 201 starts she recorded a .951 fielding percentage and hit .263 with 27 home runs and 108 RBI. As a senior, she recorded a single season program record for home runs (19) and was second in school history with 55 RBI. She earned First-Team NFCA All-Region in 2019 with the Hokies.
Nolan graduated from Virginia Tech with dual degrees in human development and sociology in 2020.
