Miami Golf head coach JD Fletcher announced his program's spring 2024 schedule today, highlighted by an invitation to compete in the Calusa Cup in April.
Â
The RedHawks open 2024 with a return visit to the University of Houston's Border Olympics, with that event set for Feb. 19-20 at Laredo Country Club (Laredo, Texas). February's slate also includes an event for individuals at North Carolina State later that same week (Feb. 24-25 at Lonnie Poole Golf Course in Raleigh, N.C.).
Â
Miami's first March event will be the Ross Collegiate Classic at Mid Pines Inn & Golf Club in Southern Pines, N.C. (March 11-12, hosted by George Mason), where the RedHawks posted a top-five team finish last season. Miami will then host the Sweetens Cove Intercollegiate at Sweetens Cove Golf Club in South Pittsburg, Tenn. on March 25 and 26.
A busy April begins with a trip to Naples, Fla. for the prestigious Calusa Cup, hosted by Iowa. The tournament will be held at Calusa Pines Golf Club April 7-9. The following week (April 15-16) brings the Highland Meadows Intercollegiate, co-hosted by Miami and Bowling Green in Sylvania, Ohio (Highland Meadows Golf Club).
Â
The RedHawks stay in-state a few days later to once again compete at Ohio State's Robert Kepler Invitational in Columbus (April 19-21 at OSU Golf Club – Scarlet Course). The Red and White's final April assignment is the annual MAC Championship, scheduled for April 26-28, 2024. This year's event, hosted by Toledo, is set for The Club at Chatham Hills in Westfield, Ind.
Â
"I am extremely excited and proud of this schedule," said Fletcher. "We will be playing in multiple Power Five events and in arguably one of the best fields in college golf at the Calusa Cup. Calusa Pines Golf Course will be an extremely tough venue for the boys and will expose their games. This is why we compete: To test our games in front of the best and on the best venues.
Â
"We have the unique opportunity to host at Sweetens Cove Golf Club at the end of March. It will be the first-ever college event at this venue. We have taken training trips here the last two years, and the boys have loved it. Sweetens will be a great Match Play venue and allow for a nice change rather than doing stroke play every event.
Â
"We finish the spring at Ohio State, which will always be a highlight in our schedule and somewhat feels like a home game for us. The team did not play well there last year, but we now have more course knowledge heading into this year. This course always prepares well for conference play.
Â
"The MAC Championship with be at Chatham Hills in Indianapolis. I am personally excited to be back in the blueprint and at this championship venue. We also get to play a practice round this fall and get familiar with the track, which will be crucial."Â
