Doran Inducted Into Astros Hall of Fame

HOUSTON— Former Houston Astros infielder Bill Doran was inducted into the team's Hall of Fame Saturday, becoming the 21st player to earn that honor. Doran was a sixth-round draft pick out of Miami University in 1979. He earned All-MAC honors in 1978 and 1979 and was named an All-American in 1979 with the Red and White. Doran still ranks sixth in Miami history in single-season batting average after producing a .407 mark in 1979.

Doran finished his MLB career with 1,453 appearances (including stints with the Cincinnati Reds and Milwaukee Brewers). The longtime second baseman hit 84 total home runs and drove in nearly 500 runs over a 12-year career. He will be immortalized with a plaque in Minute Maid Park's 'Hall of Fame Alley.'
