Connor Oliver was selected in the 17th round of the 2023 MLB Draft today by the Kansas City Royals. Oliver, an Oak Forest, Ill. native, was the 499th overall pick.
Oliver posted a team-best 3.89 ERA with a 2-6 record in 14 appearances for the RedHawks in 2023, striking out 102 batters in 78.2 innings. He ranked second in the MAC in strikeouts and struck out 10 or more hitters in four consecutive outings. Oliver, who previously pitched for Wichita State, Wabash Valley College and TCU, earned Second-Team All-MAC honors in his first season with the Red and White.
